My background
Qualifications
I have been a teacher, and headteacher for over thirty years in primary schools across Dorset and Somerset. During this time, I acted as mental health lead and champion; planning, implementing and monitoring mental health provision in school and supporting staff, children and parents through challenging times finally introducing a therapy dog during and after lockdown - meet Prince! More recently I have worked with young people and staff in secondary academies and pupil referral units and supported a range of clients locally with, for example: eating disorders, anxiety, depression, attachment and abandonment issues, bereavement, stress, and low self-esteem in an inclusive, neuro-diversity aware environment.
I became inspired to diversify my skills and expertise as a result of my own transformative, therapeutic journey which began in 2007 after a long period of anxiety and stress leading to eventual burnout. Subsequently, developing a practice and passion for yoga and meditation, I qualified as a yoga teacher through the British Wheel of Yoga in 2019 teaching in Somerset and Dorset alongside my day job.
In 2021, I completed Level 2 and 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills and subsequently, Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Practice (BACP). I currently offer private practice sessions and work as a counsellor for local organisations.
